Discover how Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) transformed its attendance narrative addressing chronic absenteeism. ACPS’ diverse cultural and socio-economic disparate community presents two persistent barriers to implementing effective and consistent methods to overcome attendance challenges. Supported by a superintendent advocating a welcoming school culture to promote positive attendance, ACPS utilized guided messaging to reflect and reiterate the value and impact “being in school every day” has on achieving academic success. Learn about its strategic handling of resources to increase awareness of this nationwide crisis and inspire communities to action, including authentic and insightful outreach, communications and collaboration.
