    AGENDA

    • 9:00 – 9:10 a.m. EST: Welcome & Introductions
    • 9:10 – 9:55 a.m. EST: SEA 1 & School Finance: What You Need to Know – Presented by Rob James, Director of Business Services, Lake Central School Corporation - Indiana’s new SEA 1 law has rewritten the rules of school funding. Learn how school finance works, how SEA 1 changes it, and how to cut through jargon to communicate clearly.
    • 5 Minute Break
    • 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. EST: Who needs a referendum? Probably you.
Fort Wayne Community Schools shares how the largest traditional public school district in Indiana passed four referendums in 12 years - three capital referendums and one safety referendum. With the state’s changes in school funding, referendums will likely become more important for many districts, even those that thought they would never consider them in the past. This session provides essential messaging frameworks for transparent communications before, during and after a vote to ensure community understanding and trust in your school corporation.
    • 5 Minute Break
    • 10:50 - 12:30 p.m. EST: Create Your Financial Communications Plan

Together, we will create a customized plan of action to help you and other district leaders communicate SEA 1 to your community with clarity and confidence. Attendees will walk away with a plan in hand that can be implemented immediately.

You'll also learn how Noblesville Schools launched their innovative "Dollars and $ense" platform, where residents can explore school finances and understand how Indiana schools are funded.

This session will be co-presented by Melissa Deavers, INDSPRA Past President and Director of Communications & Community Engagement at Portage Township Schools, and Marnie Cooke, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications at Noblesville Schools.

    • 12:30 p.m. EST: Lunch Served (in-person only)

There are no refunds for this event. If your plans should change, you may transfer your registration to a colleague or a recording will be sent to you after the event.
